Finally...The Concert Review

WOW...Where to start? Lupe Fiasco single-handedly put on one of the best one man shows that ever was. He created a retrospective look back at his career that spanned from the mixtape days to most recent endeavors. He opened up his heart to the Chicago crowd for nearly 3 hours last Thursday night and it was incredible.
Lupe went back to Revenge of the Nerds mixtapes, and showcased some of his earliest, yet most thoughtful and creative works. Then he somehow sprinkled in all but 3 or 4 songs off of his two albums, along with his new Solar midnight and Shining down. And that wasn't even the most impressive aspect of the show.
The show was divided up into 6 themes. Each theme was preceded by a 2 to 3 minute video of Lupe walking around a big, empty room speaking his mind about the subject. Each one came straight from the heart, as Lupe described his lyrics, love, life, death, progress, and finally Chicago. In the midst of all of those expressed the dark time around his father's death, his view on politics, and why he writes the lyrics that he does. It was truly an honest insight into the world of Lupe Fiasco, and every member of the crowd should have been inspired by the genius that this man laid out in front of them. His genuineness came out in first half of the show when one of his video segments was not working properly. He angrily addressed the Chicago Congress Theater about how they were messing up the show that he and the crowd spent their hard earned money on. He seemed to truly be on a mission to show himself to his hometown Chicago.
If I have one recommendation for anybody reading this, it would be to go and see Lupe Fiasco whenever you have the opportunity. Though the show will probably not be as personal and insightful, I have seen Lupe Fiasco on three other occasions and have never left any less than amazed.
